Facebook-owned Oculus VR has agreed to acquire Carbon Design, the firm that designed the first Xbox Kinect and the Xbox 360 controller for Microsoft. The Carbon team will continue to operate from its Seattle studio, according to a company blog post; Oculus has an R&D team in nearby Redmond led by a group of ex-Valve VR experts. According to the post, Oculus has already been working with Carbon on “multiple unannounced projects” for nearly a year. Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe has said in the past that making the Oculus Rift virtual reality goggles lighter and more comfortable is a long-term goal.
