Verizon Communications agreed on Monday to buy out Vodafoneâs 45 percent stake in its giant wireless unit in a $130 billion transaction, realigning the global telecommunications landscape in one of the biggest deals on record.
Under the terms of the deal, Verizon will pay about $58.9 billion in cash and about $60.2 billion in stock for Vodafoneâs stake in Verizon Wireless. It will also issue $5 billion in notes to its British partner, while selling back its minority stake in Vodafoneâs European unit for $3.5 billion.
Other, smaller transactions worth $2.5 billion round out the megadeal.
