Perella Weinberg Partners has hired Jonathan Prather, a managing director in Goldman Sachsâs global industrials group, as a partner in its advisory business.
Mr. Prather will continue to focus on the paper and forest products sector, as well as packaging and building products clients.
Mr. Prather joined Goldman in 2006 and worked on a number of major merger advisory transactions, including Solo Cupâs $1 billion sale to the Dart Container Corporation and Plum Creek Timberâs recent deal to purchase land from the MeadWestvaco Corporation.
âJonathan is an experienced industrial sector banker, and we are pleased to welcome him to the firm,â Peter Weinberg, a former partner at Goldman Sachs and a founding partner and head of advisory at Perella Weinberg, said in a release on Wednesday. âIndustrials is a large M.&A. sector with many subsectors, and Jonathanâs extensive knowledge and deep expertise advising clients in the space further augments our systematic coverage of this segment.â
Before joining Goldman, Mr. Prather was a director in UBSâs global industrials group. He has an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Some of Perellaâs recent industrial advisory work included Kajima Corporationâs sale of the real estate company Industrial Developments International to Brookfield Property Partners of Canada for $1.1 billion. The firm is also helping to manage Anadarko Petroleum Corporationâs strategic relationship with the chemical company Tronox.
